Ramadan – The Month of Great Blessings

All you need to know about Ramadan | SABA Relief

The month in which the words of Allah SWT (the holy Qur’an) was revealed to the world through the last and final messenger of Allah SWT, prophet Muhammad (May peace and blessings be upon him). A time where Allahs mercy and blessings fill the horizons and a time for worshippers to focus their thoughts and physical energy towards spirituality rather than on materialism. Fasting during the month of Ramadan brings a level of Social belonging in the community and of unity and equality before Allah SWT. Fasting Joins the Muslim community and thus the spirit of Muslims is empowered through the ummah concurrently witnessing the same duty at the same time in the same manner. Fasting in the month of Ramadan also opens doors that Allah specifically emphasizes we should make use of such as increased mercy, multiple rewards and a time of unity in helping the needy.

It should also serve as a reminder of the difficulties that millions of people living in poverty experience on a daily basis. Amongst one of the poorest countries in the world, Yemen is amidst of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis in the history of this planet. Ramadan is a time that Muslims worldwide can look forward to and come together to help those in need. With our feed the starving in Yemen campaign, SABA Relief are doing our upmost to aid the suffering and alleviate the people of Yemen.

Giving in Ramadan

It was narrated that Zayd Ibn Khalid Al-Juhani said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever gives Iftar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.”

Islam encourages Muslims to feed the fasting in Ramadan to the level that we will get the reward of the one fasting. Imagine the reward for those starving which is the situation for the majority of the People of Yemen. Through Allah’s mercy and pure intention, we can save ourselves and earn our salvation, even if it’s by giving only half a date.

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, ‘(O people!) Save yourselves from the (Hell) Fire even if it is with half a date (given in charity), and if you cannot find that, then (save yourselves by saying) a good word”. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

In this blessed month we seek forgiveness and mercy from Allah but what better way than to feed the destitute. Allah will specifically speak to his servant on the day of judgement regarding feeding the poor and how it is a duty for us if only we knew. Serving the poor is as if your serving Allah SWT himself and this duty is personal to Allah SWT.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), said the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “…O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me?” [Muslim]

Yemen since the four-year war began has spiralled downwards in need of as much help as possible. With the hope of gaining your support and donations we wish to eliminate as much hunger as we can in Yemen. What better month to gain your support and donations that this month of great mercy, blessing and multiplied rewards?

In this year Ramadan Campaign 2019 – 1440H with the hope of gaining your support and donations so we can help as many needy people in Yemen as possible. As Ramadan is the most blessed months for us Muslims, it is a great chance for us to earn multiple rewards by giving to those who have less than us.

Earn the reward for as much fasts as you can afford and gain the love of Allah by this act of serving the truly needy. Due to the war, embargo and famine, millions of Yemenis are suffering some of the worst hunger and disease the world has ever seen. Labelled the world’s worst humanitarian crises and it has a right to be labelled that. The numbers that show the suffering is staggering. 22.2 million out of 28 million are relying solely on humanitarian aid. 20 million are extremely hungry, 17.8 million have no access to clean water or sanitation, 4.3 have been internally displaced, over 1 million suffering cholera ,3.3 million severely malnourished and over half are children. These shocking figures have pushed SABA Relief to work harder than before and in this Year’s Ramadan Campaign 2019 – 1440H we wish to help as many Yemenis as we can.

Why is Charity is important during Ramadan?

During this blessed month, fasting and charity are obligatory upon Muslims who are able to do so. From sunrise to sunset, spiritual cleansing is the key focus in this month and extra effort is put to become closer to Allah SWT. This month tunes and enhances our self-discipline and willingness to sacrifice more for Allah’s cause. To do this we reflect further upon showing more compassion and mercy towards the poor and less privileged in this world. We are reminded constantly to be extra generous during this month and involve ourselves more towards charitable activities. As a result of these orders of Allah, charity in this blessed month is seen as almost sacred and Muslims run towards giving charity during Ramadan to defeat poverty and hunger in countries less fortunate. Multiplied reward, gaining a closer position to Allah SWT, showing mercy to receive Allah SWT mercy and forgiveness, understanding that we do not own our wealth and thus sharing from our blessings to show our acknowledgment to Allah SWT and many other reasons. This month is the greatest of months to show our dedication to saving lives, supporting the needy. We also give to illustrate to our creator Allah SWT that we have not been disillusioned and swayed away by the wealth of this world and we are well aware of our akhirah (hereafter).

Our work

SABA Relief is offering 4 packages in this year’s Ramadan Appeal for Yemen. Whichever you choose will benefit the war struck innocent civilians of Yemen who are in dire need right now. We take for granted the simplest things and Allah SWT will question us on everything he has blessed us with. Whether small or large we will be accountable for what we do with our wealth. We aim to make the choice easier by giving 4 options in their increasing price levels so that you, the donor can pick relevant to what you are able to spend.  Our four choices are shown below, and your next step is to choose which options suits you:

Ramadan solution to the crisis in Yemen:

By helping families, we are eliminating the poverty of the suffering in Yemen and gradually and collaboratively we are decreasing these figures from the millions. The human family is like one body in need of collaboration. We all are cells in that body and together we make a functioning organism that give life to that body. When an area of the body gets injured or sick, the rest of the body sends its healing resources to alleviate the wound from the pain. Together as one organism we can heal each other, and Yemen is in need of extra cells to heal its deep wound.

Our Ramadan Campaign Goals:

  • Help as much poor families as we can by providing them with food, water and financial aid this Ramadan.
  • Provide a hot Iftar meal for the fasting.
  • Giving Zakat and Zakat Ul-Fitr to those in dire need.

Our Ramadan campaign – Feed the fasting in Yemen:

  • Provide food packs for poor families.
  • Feed the fasting during the month of Ramadan.
  • Sponsor a family during the month of Ramadan.
  • Deliver Zakat to the poor and needy.
  • Provide Financial aid to the neediest families.
  • Bring Joy and happiness to the children of Yemen by giving Eid gifts to end the blessed month of Ramadan.

SABA Relief is eager to save more lives by providing food packs, water, financial aid and Iftar (hot) meals throughout the month of Ramadan. We aim to combat the hopelessness of poverty in response to the calls of desperation by the Yemeni people. Please help us to provide during the month of Ramadan in Yemen. Without you we will not be able to carry out this merciful work.

Reminder: Ramadan is the month of blessings, the month of giving and earning multiple rewards.
